Assessment under the IGCSE Curriculum at Green Gables International School

Green Gables International School offers the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) curriculum, which comprises a variety of routes for students with a wide range of abilities. Notably, it also caters to those students whose first language is not English. This curriculum is very flexible and emphasizes the importance of creative thinking, enquiry and problem-solving. Therefore, our school encourages students to engage with a variety of subjects as well as note the intersections of among them.

Our school also places importance on thorough assessments of students. Assessments are overarching and written examinations form only one component of this process. They have two important roles; first, proving what students have already learnt, and second, improving their understanding and supplementing their skills. They are designed to be valid, reliable and fair. Assessments are not merely concerned with discrete tests, such as term examinations, but are ongoing processes concerned with each aspect of a student’s learning process including their aural, oral and written capabilities. We are keen on continually bridging the gap between learning objectives and assessment goals.

Regarding the examination process, Cambridge International provides schools with useful assessment materials including examiner reports and mark schemes. Students are also provided the option of appearing for Cambridge Checkpoint examinations at the end of grades 5 and 8, which are externally marked by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). It must be noted that typical core subjects for IGCSE candidates include a first language, second language, Mathematics and one or more subjects in the Sciences. In India, schools, students can begin studying the syllabus at the beginning of Grade 9 and take the final examinations at the end of Grade 10. These final examinations are generally conducted in the month of March. The qualifications are based on individual subjects of study, which means that students receive an IGCSE qualification for each subject they take.

Our school campus is located at just a ten-minute drive from Wipro Circle Junction, Gachibowli in Hyderabad. We are in the vicinity of Financial District, Kokapet, Kollur, Gopanapally and Tellapur.
